gm,
Live look at us writing the newsletter this morning.
Have you heard the good news? The Boys Club media womb has birthed new life. Listen to the first episode of CONTEXT: Views on Crypto and Culture with Blake Finucane today.
Mike Demarais, co-founder of Rainbow Wallet and agent of chaos, came on the original Boys Club podcast to talk about LSD.
The Boys
The other shoe has dropped. This week, crypto broker Genesis filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy, causing a shockwave around the industry. The company owes creditors 3.6 billion doll hairs, including $765 million to Gemini. Genesis was managing the funds for Gemini’s yield product, Earn, which has 340,000 depositors. Cameron Winklevoss is on a tear, threatening to sue Barry Silbert, the CEO of Digital Currency Group which is the parent company of Genesis. No jokes on this one, just anger on behalf of everyone impacted tbh.
Dookey Dash. Just when you thought crypto couldn’t get any more weird, Yuga Labs has again raised the bar. This week, Dookey Dash took over the timeline. It’s a “skill-based NFT game” about swimming through a sewer in pursuit of magical monkey poop. Gamers have to own the 1.9 ETH ($3,000+) “Sewer Pass” NFT to play, which was free for all current Bored Ape holders. Crypto x Gaming is a hot sector and we’ll keep you updated on all the embarrassing developments.
It’s giving Optimism. Now for some good stuff. Optimism’s “retroactive public good funding” started accepting nominations this week. They’re giving away 10 million $OP tokens (currently $20+ million hyper-inflating US Dollars) to reward past open-source contributors to the ecosystem. Vitalik likes it, so we love it.
